212IM™ Two-Way Double 12″ Lightweight Copolymer-Based All-Weather Loudspeaker System


The 212IM™ is a two way double 12 inch light weight copolymer based all weather loudspeaker system. The 212IM may be used in direct weather outdoor installations as well as indoor applications where high vocal intelligibility and accuracy are required. Like all ONE SYSTEMS® products, the 212IM was designed to not only offer excellent full range reproduction but superior vocal reproduction and intelligibility as well. Because the 212IM utilizes two ONE SYSTEMS 12 inch 12I/O low frequency drivers in a vertical array the mid bass polar pattern offers a higher Q then that of a single 12 inch two way system. This feature is ideal for reverberant spaces or for longer throw applications both outdoors and indoors. The high frequency transducer is an ET large format driver coupled to a fully rotatable horn.

The 212IM system offers a complete selection of array and flying/suspension hardware. The enclosure is also available with a 150 watt 3 tap line matching transformer. The 212IM may be ordered with either a 100V or 70.7V primary.

The 212IM is optimized for outdoor applications such as football stadiums, baseball stadiums, race tracks and other sports venues where permanent installation is required as well as a direct weather exposure. The system is also well suited for outdoor general public address applications. The system is equally suited for general purpose indoor applications in multipurpose rooms, indoor sports venues and general performance or vocal intensive applications. The 212IM is an ideal choice when higher sound pressure levels or higher Q systems are specified.

The 212IM enclosure is a copolymer optimized for high UV exposure and long life in harsh environments. All internal and external rigging and suspension hardware, as well as the metal grill are stainless steel or high strength aluminum.

The grill is a 3 layer “rain shield” design that will minimize direct rain contact with the systems transducers. The unique vent design also allows for easy moisture drainage from the interior of the enclosure. The enclosure and grill design are rated to IEC 529 IP45 (IP56 when HWK used)(solid object penetration to 1 mm (0.04 inches) and water jets from any direction). The enclosures and components are also rated to Mil Spec 810.

The input section consists of both 4 pin Neutrik® Speakons® as well as a stainless steel hardware barrier strip. A weather cover is provided with an integral Gland nut connector for outdoor applications. In the outdoor configuration connections are made thru the 4 position barrier strip. The input is user switchable for either full range or bi amp operation. The switch is located on the input plate and is isolated from direct weather by the weather cover.

The Gland nut is weather proof and is rated NEMA 6P (IP68). The connector will accommodate cable outside diameters from 7mm to 12mm (0.236” to 0.472”). The maximum diameter will accommodate most 2 conductor AWG 12 cable assemblies.

The basic design utilizes a patent pending high frequency driver and horn combination.

A fully rotatable high frequency horn is standard in this enclosure. The ET-60/40 is a 60 degree horizontal by 40 degree vertical pattern and may be rotated to also provide a 40 degree horizontal by 60 degree vertical orientation. This unique design offers wide bandwidth polar control and low distortion.

The patent pending ET driver (full details are available at the ONE SYSTEMS web site, www.ONESYSTEMS.com) is a unique “equivalent throat” design that allows the radiation pattern to be controlled by the phase plug summation plane rather then the conventional “exit diameter” at the end of the driver structure. The ET driver has a large format titanium diaphragm and a close spaced circumferential ring phase plug to insure extended high frequency bandwidth.

The low frequency design is also patent pending. The double 12 inch 12 I/O woofers (Inside Only) utilize a unique voice coil wind on the inside of the voice coil support structure. This design allows for both high magnetic system displacement as well as increased thermal transfer. This results in reduced power compression and higher reliability.

Because the ONE SYSTEMS 212IM is designed for permanent installation applications a variety of rigging and suspension options are available. The 212IM has 20 M10 mounting points. An M10 forged shoulder eye bolt kit is available for all M10 suspension points.

The 212IM may be suspended as a single unit using the ONE SYSTEMS “U” bracket in either a vertical or horizontal configuration. The “U” bracket is a ONE SYSTEMS 212IM-U

There are also two planar array systems available. A “simple” planar array will allow multiple 212IM’s to be suspended in a horizontal array. The simple array bracket will allow for 1 deep planar arrays. This array provide for 5 degree horizontal aiming steps. The simple array is the FLY-112IM

There is also a “T” bracket that will allow planar arrays of two deep, where the second row consists of 112IM enclosures in a down fill orientation. The “T” bracket also provides for 5 degree horizontal aiming increments. In the down fill configuration the DFIM bracket is used to suspend the 112IM below the 212IM enclosure. The “T” bracket array is the FLY-112IM-T

The 212IM system also features a down fill bracket (DF-IM) that allows a single 112IM to be suspended upside down from 212IM. This allows the lower 112IM to be configured for downfill applications. The DF-IM allows for 5 degrees aiming increments in the vertical plane. As mentioned above the 212IM and 112IM may be used with a DF-IM and a “T” bracket or used with the M10 Forged Shoulder Eye Bracket kit as well.

The 212IM is also available in a line matching transformer version in both 100V and 70.7V ratings. The internal transformer is a 150 watt 3 tap (150 watts, 75 watts, and 37.5 watts). This the 112IM-100 or 112IM-70 version.
